The Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration (LSI) issues nomination certificates to prospective immigrants who meet a labour market need and who will make a contribution to Nova Scotia’s economy. Nominees then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for a permanent resident visa.

Applicants are attracted to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program from around the world. This dataset provides the number of nomination certificates issued annually by citizenship of the applicant.

The maximum number of nomination certificates that LSI may issue annually through the Nova Scotia Nominee Program is determined by the federal government.

Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI) rates while in hospital are measured and monitored by infection prevention and control staff as a means to evaluate the effectiveness of their infection control protocols. CDI rates are calculated by dividing the number of clostridium difficile infections by the total number of patient days. This rate is then multiplied by 10,000 to make a standard CDI infection rate for each reporting period. The rate is reported per 10,000 patient days. The data fields include: Functional Economic Region Name, Month and Year; Category (e.g., Farming); Type (Traded or Local); North American Industry Classification (NAICS) - 6-digits; Location Quotient; and Employment Size Categories for Business Locations. Fields may be added to or change over time.
